The New DN Space

The leadership and board of Darkhei Noam are excited to announce the new locations for our kehillah!

We will be meeting at the Manhattan Country School on Shabbat mornings and at Dorot on Friday nights.

To help support Darkhei Noam's expenses during this move, please visit our donation page and select "Spring Campaign."

Manhattan Country School: 150 W. 85th Street (between Columbus/Amsterdam)
Located in the former Mannes School, MCS has beautifully renovated the building and began classes this year. Darkhei Noam will use the Gym/Auditorium on the second floor of the building. Formerly the recital hall in the Mannes School, the gym has excellent acoustics and a new, flat floor. Our kiddush space will be on the large second-floor landing directly behind the gym and will spill into the gym, as necessary. Children's programming will take place on the third floor. Tot tefillah will be in a classroom and programming for older children will be in the "flex space."

MCS has an elevator for limited use and ADA-compliant restrooms.

Our first Shabbat at MCS will be July 1st.

Dorot: 171 W. 85th Street (between Columbus/Amsterdam, across the street from MCS)
We will meet at Dorot for tefillah on Friday nights, because MCS only has availability for Darkhei Noam on Shabbat mornings. Darkhei Noam will use Dorot's reception room on the second floor of the building, which has space for 60 seats. We will also have access to their kitchen/staffroom for children to use under adult supervision.

Dorot also has an elevator and ADA-compliant restrooms.

Please note that we will NOT meet for Friday night tefillah in July/August. We want to focus on settling into our new space at MCS and making sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible on Shabbat mornings during our lighter summer months. Our first Friday night tefillah at Dorot will be September 8th.

We anticipate that MCS will be an excellent match for our needs for the bulk of the year. Since their school is in session during most chagim we will need to meet at an alternate location those days when we cannot meet at MCS. We will notify you of the alternate location well in advance. Similarly, we are still confirming whether we can use MCS for Yamim Noraim and will notify the community when that location is confirmed.

Transition Committee
In order to help us nail down all the details to make our transition to our new homes as smooth as possible,  we are looking for a few men and women to join our transition committee. If you would like to be a part of moving us out of BJ and setting up our new home, please email

Hakarat HaTov
We extend special thanks to our entire space committee, led by Bruce Goldberger, who helped make our new homes a reality! We are so excited about the beautiful new spaces that our kehillah will be using and the important partnerships we are forging with essential members of the Jewish and Upper West Side communities.

We look forward to starting this new chapter of the Darkhei Noam story with you!
