Mental Health Awareness Shabbat & Lunch

Saturday, June 1, 2019 27 Iyyar 5779

9:15 AM - 3:00 PMMCS (150 West 85 Street)

Mental health and wellness are issues that impact our community, and we are looking forward to creating a space to open a dialogue about mental health within our community and welcome everyone to join.

On Shabbat morning, mental health advocate and educator Marc Fein will address the community before Mussaf. After davening we will have a communal lunch and then break out into sessions where we will have an opportunity to delve deeper into mental health topics in a more intimate setting.

Topics to be Explored:

  • "His Mind Became Weak": Depression and Loss in the Talmud - Rabba Yaffa Epstein
  • Parenting Today: Research on Marijuana & Vaping - Osna Haller, PhD
  • Managing with Mindfulness and Meditation - Gabriela Lupatkin, LCSW
  • "You shall choose life": The Lessons Learned from Recent Suicide Research - Sarah Bloch-Elkouby, PhD
  • Different Children in Resilient Families - Michelle Kraus, LCSW
  • How to Talk with Parents when Parents Just Aren't Listening (program for adolescents) - Marc Fein
