The Darkhei Noam and Yeshivat Hadar's Open Beit Midrash Shiur led by Joe Septimus.  (In Person- held at  Hadar, 210 West 93rd Street)

At the crossroads of power, law, injustice, moral flaws, social discrimination, and personal limitations lies the Talmudic Story. Set amidst legal discourse, the Aggadot—the Talmudic narratives—do not triumph by offering simple resolutions. Instead, they give voice to humanity’s struggle and its vulnerabilities, revealing the gaps where we often fall short. Rich in literary style, intellectually provocative ideas, and the dynamics of eternal human conflicts, Aggadot confront both the strengths and frailties of human nature, alongside divine and universal truths. Join us as we delve into several Aggadot, uncovering the complex nuances of human nature that the Talmud reveals.

This class will be centered around active, collaborative learning. Each session will feature a deep analysis of selected Aggadot, with close textual study that unpacks layers of meaning, literary style, and the human dilemmas embedded within the stories. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussion and reflection, contributing their insights to the collective learning. For those unable to attend a session, a review will be provided to ensure continuity, enabling everyone to remain connected to the ongoing exploration.REGISTER

Tuesdays 8:00-9:00 PM (In Person- held at the Jewish Center)
