Chaos and Conflict: The Middle East Today and Its Impact on Israel
Wednesday, November 18, 2015 • 6 Kislev 5776
7:00 PM - 9:00 PMShaare Zedek 212 West 93rd Street (social hall)The Middle East today is beset by conflict, as simultaneous and overlapping wars stretching from Libya to Syria to Yemen further destabilize the region. Though Israel is largely not involved in these conflicts, the country is inevitably affected by these developments. From the rise of ISIS to the isolation of the Muslim Brotherhood, Jordan Reimer will explore a framework for understanding the conflicts in the Middle East today, and discuss the threats -- and surprising opportunities -- that they present to Israel.
Jordan Reimer has an MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. He served as a policymaker at the Department of Defense under two administrations, focusing on Iraq, Iran, and the Arabian Peninsula. Jordan has lived in Egypt and Yemen and is currently an international affairs analyst in New York City.
