Shavuot 2024

The holiday of Shavuot begins on Tuesday night, June 11th, and ends on Thursday night, June 13th.

Darkhei will meet at SAJ, 15 West 86th Street, according to the schedule below. Please pay careful attention to the times and locations for shacharit services on Wednesday and Thursday, and for Megillat Rut and Yizkor on Thursday, June 13th.

Darkhei will not be meeting for afternoon and evening services during Shavuot.

NOTE: Tikkun programming has been planned, please see details below.

Children's programming WILL be available during Shavuot davening at SAJ on the 3rd floor.

• Tuesday, June 11, Erev Chag
  Candle Lighting: 8:07 pm
  *Note: we are not meeting for evening services
   
• Tikkun Leil Shavuot 
  Tuesday, June 11, 10:00 pm - 1:00 am at SAJ (Sanctuary)
  Join the Darkhei Noam community for a night of learning to be held at SAJ. Hourly sessions from 10:00 pm - 1:00 am.  Cheesecake will, of course, be served.
  - Dr. Sharon Flatto, 10 - 11 pm, "What are Provocative & Prohibited Pictures doing in Medieval Shavuot Machzorim?"  - Dr. Malka Strasberg Edinger, 11 pm - 12 am, " Serach bat Asher, the Bible's Immortal Woman". 
  - R. Chaim Seidler-Feller, 12 am - 1 am, "The Torah’s War Against Waging War".

• Children's Shavuot Tikkun and Ice Cream Celebration
  Wednesday, June 12, 11:20 am
  Darkhei Noam youth groups will be celebrating Shavuot with a special tikkun and ice cream party  on Wednesday morning , during group meetings at SAJ, 3rd floor.
   
• Thursday, June 13, Day 12 of Shavuot 
  Shacharit (at SAJ- 15 W 86- SANCTUARY): 9:00 am  
  Yizkor: (Not before 10:30 AM)
  Havdalah: 9:21 pm

• Young Professionals Tikkun Yom Shavuot 
  Wednesday, June 13, 4:30 pm in Central Park and 85th Street
  Celebrate Shavuot with DN Young Professionals meeting in the park for refreshments and learning. 
  
  Children's Programming:
  Babysitting for toddlers and groups for older kids will be available on  Yom Tov at SAJ (3rd floor).
  Kids' Tefillah and Junior Minyan will run as usual.
