Scholar-in-Residence Shabbat with Prof. Talya Fishman

1. During Kabbalat Shabbat: "Ibn Ezra Circumvents a Miracle"
2. Before Musaf: "The Role of Moses in the Transmission of Torah"
3. During the community lunch following services: “Viewing Masorah in an Interfaith Context"
Talya Fishman is Associate Professor of Jewish Intellectual and Cultural History of the Medieval and Early Modern Periods at the University of Pennsylvania. She is the author of 'Becoming the People of the Talmud: Oral Torah as Written Tradition in Medieval Jewish Cultures' (2013).
This Scholar-in-Residence Shabbat is sponsored by Ozzie Haller in memory of her husband, Jack Oliver Haller, z"l. Jack Haller was committed to Judaism and the significance of the community, and it is Ozzie's hope that bringing interesting ideas to the Darkhei Noam community will help preserve his memory.
